Ratings Roundup: Sacramento

Sacramento's KSQR-AM makes a huge leap in the overall ratings, moving from nonexistant in the Winter book, to 0.4 in the Spring (with less than a whole ratings period as an AAR affiliate) to a 1.6 overall for the just-released Summer book. Nice showing.

It's interesting to note that KSQR, along with WLIB in New York, are the only two stations where AAR still leases time, as opposed to the current, preferred barter syndication method. I wonder if another station will eventually offer to pick up AAR programming via barter, thereby negating the need to lease KSQR. There is a KLIB in Sacramento, at 1110 AM. Gotta admit - it would be kinda cool. But I don't see much for available AM frequencies there.

National talk show host says breathing nail polish remover won't hurt you!

"Breathing fingernail polish remover is SAFE!" (paraphrased)

Breathing nail polish remover (acetone/ethyl acetate) causes brain and liver damage! No doubt the talk show host was paid to lie by Revlon (or whoever) to promote the sale of nail polish remover. Why else would he lie about it?!

I have a two hour tape recording of NATIONAL talk show hosts (many)broadcasting:

LIES on the environment

LIES about medical "facts"

LIES about the chemical and toxicological properties of consumer products.

RACIST comments

Name calling

Foul language

Mis-quotes of government officials

FCC and FTC law violations ! (LYING about consumer products to promote sales- for the purpose of receiving "under-the-table" payoffs and/or ad contracts-among others)

I will play my tape FREE OF CHARGE to any group of 100 or more at your high school, college- anywhere.

My purpose in playing this tape is to explore what effect (if any) broadcast lies have on voter's decisions at the polls and consumers buying decisions. My other purpose is to discredit the talk show industry and hopefully encourage advertisers to stay away from the industry until it cleans up its act and to encourage YOU to contact the FCC and FTC and demand that they investigate violations of the law!

LYING ABOUT A PRODUCT ON THE AIR TO PROMOTE SALES FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING UNDER-THE-TABLE PAYMENT OR TALK SHOW ADS FROM THE MANUFACTURER (or subsidiaries)IS ILLEGAL !

LYING ABOUT MEDICAL MATTERS ON THE AIR WHICH DOES (or can) CAUSE PEOPLE INJURY OR DEATH IS ILLEGAL !
