Boston redux?

This thing's happened so often in Boston that it's starting to sound like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf".

Nevertheless, it kinda sorta does look like progressive talk is making a return to the city's airwaves, via WAZN (1470AM).

WAZN GM Jeff Kline sez:

Many of you have expressed an interest in this type of programming.

It can now be revealed: WAZN-AM 1470 will soon be adding Progressive Talk, airing weekday evenings, from the Jones Radio Network. These will be the programs that aired live earlier the same day. The specifics are not yet worked out, as to which particular programs and/or hours we will be carrying, initially.

WAZN is now looking for commission-only sales people to sell this new format. If you have previously sold airtime (either radio or TV) in the Boston area, I want to hear from you!

Email only to: jeffk@mrbi.net

Jeff Kline
General Manager,
WAZN/WLYN

Essentially, Dial Global progressive talk programming (they have Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz and Thom Hartmann in their stable) will air at night, and the station's current ethnic programming will stay during the day.

BTW - the ethnic programming is mostly Russian, and please hold the lame-ass jokes. We've heard them all.

The WAZN juggernaut seeming has nothing to do with the often up-in-the-air endeavor from last fall, on similarly-named WWZN (1510AM), which apparently never really got off the ground. This one seems like the real deal.

WTF is it going to take to get liberal talk to Central and/or Treasure Coast of FloriDUH?! Hell, Obama KICKED ASS in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, so again, WTF!
Oh wait, I know, Cum Channel OWNS ALL THE BIG SIGNALS IN THIS STATE! Speaking of, when the HELL is Obama going to do something about media ownership?????!!!!?????!!!!
And another thing that desperately needs addressing in this country is MENTAL HEALTH CARE and CYBER-STALKING...you know who you are...
Oh sorry, didn't mean to go off on a rant, but it just kinda comes naturally!

Yup, we know the lameass jokes. Ever hear the Foremen's "Russian Limbaugh" song? (Funny folk band). It manages to rhyme "borscht" with
"divorscht" and has the line
"I'm Russian Limbaugh/ I will bury you."

oops: Now WAZN's GM says it was not happen. A post on radio-info.com:

"A change in plans...Due to circumstances beyond our control,
WAZN will NOT be airing progressive talk, after all...The format
should be returning to Boston, but not on WAZN...."

Today, Jeff Santos, who has been on WWZN (1510-AM, 50 KW) for months, announced on his show that Santos Media has signed a one-year lease with WWZN. Starting May 4, they'll be broadcasting 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. National hosts like Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz will be joining the station lineup. Looks like WWZN is the real deal...

So this is what Kline meant by "prog talk will be airing in Boston but not on WAZN (1470)"...i.e., it will be on WWZN 1510 instead! Am guessing it will be Santos, Miller, Hartmann, Schulz in that order (I haven't seen press release yet & missed announcement) or Schulz/Hartmann

I'd hope Santos would update his site revolutionboston.com to reflect this; the WWZN site is mostly sports oriented as they'll still be sports post 6 pm

Santos, Miller, Schultz, Hartmann. The revolutionboston.com site has been updated (see "Events").

Yes; via Dan Strassberg it's Santos expanded: 6-10 am. Only 2 hours of Steph, till noon; Schulz 12-3,
Hartmann 3-6, and a show to be announced later (so, make that 13 hrs per day) 6-7 pm.
